Laure Prouvost introduced films by John Latham and screened a selection of her own works.

Serpentine Cinema is a series of performances and screenings by artists and filmmakers held in a cinema context.

Laure Prouvost (b.1992, Croix, France) lives and works between Arialmorla and Moulamnbeck in Belguim. Her practice encompasses video, sound, objects and installation. Selected solo exhibitions include: Pirelli HangarBiocca, Milan (2016–17); Le Consortium, Dijon (2016); Red Brick Art Museum, Beijing (2016); CAPC Musée d’Art Contemporain de Bordeaux (2015); Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, Berlin (2014); New Museum, New York (2014) and Tate Britain, London (2013). Selected group exhibitions include: British Art Show 8, various venues UK, (2015–7); Haus Der Kunst, Munich (2015); Taipei Biennial (2014); Nouveau Musée National de Monaco (2014) and Sculpture Center, New York (2011).

Prouvost won the MaxMara Art Prize for Women in 2011 and was the recipient of the Turner Prize 2013.

John Latham (1921-2006) was born in Livingstone, Northern Rhodesia (now Maramba, Zambia). In 1946 he enrolled at Regent Street Polytechnic and then studied painting at Chelsea College of Art and Design (1947–51). Solo exhibitions include Henry Moore Institute, Leeds, UK (2016); Triennale di Milano, Milan, Italy (2014); Whitechapel Art Gallery, London, UK (2010); P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center, New York City, NY, USA (2006); Tate Britain, London, UK (2005); Staatsgalerie, Stuttgart, Germany (1991); Société des Expositions du Palais des Beaux-Arts, Brussels, Belgium (1984); and Städtische Kunsthalle, Düsseldorf, Germany (1975). His work was shown in many group exhibitions including documenta 6, Kassel, Germany (1977) and the 51st Venice Biennale, Venice Italy (2005). His work is held in collections worldwide, including Tate Collection and MoMA.

Latham has been associated with several national and international artistic movements since he started showing work in the late 1940s. He is associated with the first phase of conceptual art of the 1960s, was an important contributor to the Destruction in Art Symposium of 1966 and was a founder member of the Artist Placement Group (1966-89).
